For those that remember it and even those that don’t, it was nice to stumble across this web page on the Southbourne Shell House. The clue is in the name. Web site: Southbourne Shell House
After all the hype and investment, we end up with an open viewing platform from which to gaze upon the failed surf reef. A double-ended debacle. All in all pretty sad for an area that has actually come on leaps and bounds. The businesses have worked hard to up their despite all this and it [...]
Do you have a great photograph of Southbourne or the local area? Why not submit it in this Bournemouth Photo Competition. BHLife Magazine
When I was Googling “Southbourne Groove” to see what comes up, one of the results was a beautiful painting of a sunset down on Southbourne beach. I followed the links and worked out that it was done by a local artist called Lisa Le Quelenec. It was nice to see in our brief exchange of [...]
I thought it would be good to acknowledge the brave work that these volunteers do for the safety of our Southbourne beach. I have seen them for years but not really thought about the organisation and people behind it all. That responsibility doesn’t come lightly. Well done to you all. There is this Bournemouth/Bristol based band called Yellowgroove that are quite well known locally who created a music promo video right down on Southbourne Beach by Hengistbury Head. Ironically it is called San Francisco Bay. But, we love to see our beach in the background. Website: Yellowgroove Twitter: @yellowgroove
It is really nice to see a local Southbourne restaurant, L’assiette, rated as number one in the Trip Adviser list for Bournemouth restaurants. I’ve been there just once, for their set lunch and I enjoyed it. (Click for my review) You can tell there is some training behind the food. Trip Adviser Bournemouth Restaurants listing
This blogger has many reviews of local coffee places and eateries. I think she must be pretty local to here. http://cafechitchat.wordpress.com/
For those that did not see the old Boscombe Pier I have added one that shows the previous building that was at the end of the pier. Personally I think they should have used the money wasted on the disastrous and embarrassing so-called reef and made the Pier into fantastic facility as well as giving [...]
Local news for local people from around the Grove... Southbourne is a wonderful place with great access to beaches, pubs and restaurants. Packed full of independent shops, butchers, grocers, cafes, pubs and a beautiful beach. It is so easy to get to from the M3/M27. Close to the New Forest and all those country house hotels and on the way to Bournemouth and Poole with all the shops.
